85% of men want to marry despite the economic downturn

Market Watch reports that a recent survey finds that 85% of men will not put their marriage proposals on hold due to an economic downturn. What does this mean for the diamond ring shopper? Will ring prices start to fall?

“It’s doubtful,” says Eric Peerless, CTO of online diamond jeweler Since1910.com “What we have seen is an increase in shopping activity as more consumers are driven to the web in search of better deals on diamond rings and the ability to use the same comparison shopping technology they have become accustomed to in their routine purchases: airline tickets, clothing, hotels, and others.”

Woman looses both engagement and wedding rings in Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Just last night, a woman in Portsmouth, New Hampshire lost both her engagement and her wedding rings when the necklace she used to carry them around her neck broke. She had started wearing them around her neck when her fingers began to swell due to her pregnancy and didn’t realize they had been lost until hours later.

Had this happened in New York, the story wouldn’t have made headlines, but in Portsmouth, it’s news. Do you think that the town is small enough that someone might actually turn them in? Read the rest of the story at www.seacoastonline.com

It seems the rage is micro-pave settings with a trillion stones created with the aim of blinding more people then the next girl’s ring. Call me old-fashioned, but where did the simple solitaire go?
