Underwater Proposal= Awesome

I love unique proposals, its hard to get out of the cliche proposal because, well, it is romantic to get engaged under the Eiffel Tower, and Valentine’s Day is a day of love. But once in a while you have that funny or sweet proposal (you can see all our proposal videos here ) and it really takes your breath away.

I love the beach, the ocean, and my favorite animal lives in the sea, so of course in my eyes this would be an awesome way to ask the person of your dreams for their hand in marriage. And its pretty adorable that he still managed to sort of get on one knee. What a fun idea!

Binary Proposal While Dressed As Bender? Why Not.

What happens when you are dating a geek? You get proposed to in binary while he is dressed as Bender from the show Futurama. In case you’re wonder…he said: “Rachel, you are awesome. Will you marry me?” She said yes. And really, who wouldn’t? It would take me forever to figure it out, so thank god for this, but I think the sentiment is crazy adorable.

An Indiana Jones Inspired Engagement Ring? Yep!

I am a huge Star Trek and Harry Potter fan, maybe more of a Potter fan (love this proposal idea) but that does not mean that I cannot appreciate being proposed to like this…What I am saying is, if you love something then why would you not want it incorporated in one of the most important moments of your life…an engagement, or take it to the next level…an engagement ring.

Last year we saw a fan of Wonder Woman get her dream engagement ring, so what happens when a gentleman is dating an Indiana Jones fan? He makes sure that he gets down on one knee with a unique ring inspired by Indiana Jones, duh!

I have to say, it may not be the most beautiful ring, but it is super romantic to say the least. Check it out below:

Husband & Wife, Married 61 Years, Die Hours Apart

A couple married for 61 years died hours apart from each other on Sunday. Nancy Trimmer passed away in her sleep around midnight on Sunday. Her husband, Richard Trimmer who spent years fighting kidney failure, lung cancer and heart issues with his wife by his side, was told of her death while he was in the hospital recovering from a fall.

He died 12 hours after hearing of her death. The couple were high school sweethearts and had six children.  Their children and grandchildren shared that they were always inseparable. This story is heartwarming and melancholy all at the same time. It reminds me of the Titanic, remember the older couple, Mr. and Mrs. Straus, who died together holding hands? There were so few life boats and women were asked to go first, leaving a lot of the men behind. Mr. Straus was not given a seat on a life boat and Mrs. Straus chose to be with her husband and perish with him than live without him.

These are the tearjerker stories you hear that remind you that true love is alive and well. I can understand how upsetting it is to lose both your parents within a day, but at the same time, they were just not meant to be apart.

99 Year Old Man Files For Divorce Over Wife’s Affair 70 Years Ago

What does it take to make a 99 year old man who has been married for 80 years file for divorce? An affair…that happened 70 years ago. But should he let it go? First the facts: Antonio, 99, and his wife, Rosa, 96 met in the 1930’s when he was a Carabiniri officer. They have five children, a dozen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. But all this apparently did not stop Antonio, meaning that if the divorce goes through, they will be the oldest couple to ever divorce.

Antonio found letters that Rosa had written to her lover back in the 1940’s, showing the letters to his wife, he demanded a divorce. Rosa confessed her infidelity and thought she would be allowed to reconcile with her husband, but he did not give her that choice, since he immediately filed.  10 years ago the couple hit a rough patch and Antonio moved out, moving in with his son. The couple worked it out after some weeks and reunited. This Antonio sounds like a spitfire.

So, I looked around to see what people thought, should he have filed for divorce, or should he have let it go? A lot of the commentators on Time say “good for him, and she got what she deserved.”

Looking at both sides, Rosa obviously made a mistake, but at the end of the day, she chose her husband. She never left him and although it was very wrong, being with someone 80 years has to count for something.

The one aspect that makes it really intolerable, if we are going to beak it all up, is the fact that she never told him. Had she told him..would he had stayed? From how this Antonio sounds, Probably not. So that means all their kids and grand kids would not exist if she had indeed told her husband about the affair.

While Antonio is right, you can’t think about what could have been, only what is. Every one makes mistakes. While it is a blow, he found out so many years later, with their age…I say let it go, even though it may be difficult.

If This Happened During Your Ceremony, Would You Go On?

Its your special day, you are all set, got the perfect white dress, family and friends are around, and you are about to marry the love of your life. The ceremony begins the priest asks “If anyone objects to this union, speak now or forever hold you peace” and…a huge siren goes off. Literally. A loud, obnoxious siren right then and there. Do you keep going…? Come on, talk about a warning sign! Honestly, calling off the wedding would definitely cross my mind.  People always say, “I wish I had a sign” well, it really does not get any clearer than this!

Bride Has 30 Bridesmaids!

How many bridesmaids is too much? Hmm…31? I guess it all depends on the wedding eh? Cause Joyce McDevitt found 30 to be a perfectly fair round number when it comes to the women who will be accompanying her down the aisle. She shares why she decided on so many and how it made her feel:
“I just couldn’t leave anyone out. I’m from a big family and i just couldn’t choose who to have as my bridesmaids. I didn’t want to offend anybody. So I had 30 bridesmaids and it was an unusual sight when we got to the church. Not all the guests realised that I was having so many bridesmaids – so it was a bit of a shock for them.

David had already asked me to marry him on Valentine’s Day in 2009 but I decided I didn’t want a big fuss, so I turned him down. But then as the months went by I decided I did want to get married, but the only problem was I couldn’t choose my bridesmaids. My maiden name is Walton – and its an appropriate name for me as I come from a really large family. I’ve got five brothers and four sisters, who have all got family, and I just couldn’t leave anyone out.

I had 22 bridesmaids from my side of the family, plus David’s two daughters Ruth, 41, and Kate, 40, and his granddaughter. Then there were five friends whom I have grown up with all my life. ‘My brother’s daughter Louise was heavily pregnant, so I had two bridesmaids on standby to fill her place in case she went into labour early. I could have had even more bridesmaids – but I decided that 30 was enough. I had to draw the line somewhere.

There wasn’t any quarrelling over who was going to my chief bridesmaid, as Laura is my only granddaughter. I wanted them all to come down the aisle with me, so 15 went down one aisle, and 15 down the other aisle and we all met up at the bottom. It made a spectacular sight. We had a wonderful day – 200 guests were at the wedding reception and then a further 100 in the evening. Everyone had a great time and all my bridesmaids did a wonderful job. Having 30 bridesmaids made me feel like the best looked after bride in the world.”

Luckily because there was so many, the bridesmaids could wear their own dresses, since paying for 30 would be very expensive. At the end of the day, I kind of  like it. In my opinion, she was very considerate to the women in her life and how it would make them feel if they were excluded, and so what if she had 30 bridesmaids? The more the merrier. If anything she is lucky that she has so many people in her life that care about her. Congrats on your wedding Joyce!
