Diamond district store robbed yesterday

New York City’s Diamond District is one of the most sparkly places in the states, I mean come on, this is the Diamond District! For those few blocks jewels of all colors and sizes line the streets and command attention! You have no choice but to peer over at the window. But the shimmer and glittery neighborhood does not only attract window shoppers, once in a while criminals see an easy payday, which is exactly what happened yesterday.

Two men dressed in black burst into a store in the district, tied up the store owner and his son with phone cords and cable wire and robbed an estimated $37,000 in jewels as well as $29,000 in cash.
The heist took place right before two in the afternoon, the owner and his son were able to free themselves and called the police as quickly as possible.

The crooks are still at large, they are described as Latino, in their late 20’s or early 30’s. One of the robbers was stout and the other skinny. They were carrying a gym bag and had a gun, which the skinner man used to intimidate the owner of the business.

Thankfully neither the son or owner were injured, and the police are canvassing the area around the incident in hopes of jogging someones memory or catching the thieves themselves.
