Elizabeth Taylor’s Love Letters

Elizabeth Taylor has dusted off her love letters exchanged with Richard Burton and is letting Vanity Fair publish portions for its July issue.  It will be the first time that Taylor makes her love letters with Burton public and the actress will be a featured on the cover (albeit in a photo from her stunning heyday).   The only letter that Taylor was not willing to share was the letter that Burton sent her just days before his death.  Taylor actually didn’t receive the letter in the mail until a few days after Burton had died.

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton

“Richard was magnificent in every sense of the word.  And in everything he did…he was the kindest, funniest, most gentle father.”  Taylor has said.  “All my kids worshipped him.  Attentive, loving–that was Richard…from those first moments in Rome we were always madly and powerfully in love.  We had more time, but not enough.”

The love letters reveal the pair’s love-torn relationship that was often dramatic, high-strung and even silly.  In many letter, Burton calls Taylor playful names and jokes around, while also professing how much he loves her.  Their two marriages served as examples of how loving someone isn’t always enough to keep a healthy marriage.  The pair fell in love while working on the epic film, Cleopatra, in 1961, and married for the first time just three years later.  During their marriage, Burton presented Taylor with a lavish 70-carat flawless pear-shaped engagement ring, which was later named the Taylor-Burton diamond.

Baby in the Works for Mariah Carey?

Singer icon Mariah Carey has been fueling a lot of baby rumors lately after abruptly pulling out of the Tyler Perry film based on Ntozake Shange’s 1975 play, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.  Carey’s rep declined to give any reason for the swift departure, saying “I’m not at liberty to discuss her personal life at this time.”

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

Both Carey and Cannon renewed their marriage vows earlier this year in a lavish Beverly Hills ceremony, which featured Cannon gifting Mariah with a custom-made ring pop covered in diamonds.  Regarding the constant pregnancy rumors, Cannon added that the couple definitely want children.  “We’re going to do it,and when we do it we’re going to let you all know.  But right now, we’re trying to enjoy the newlywed aspect.”

Cannon seems to have nothing but great things to say about Carey, likening their relationship top a romantic comedy and saying they would have a wedding everyday, if they could.  “We are both kids at heart.  She is the funniest person ever and she has a great sense of humor.”

Chris O’Donnell Committed to the Family Life

Chris O’Donnell was poised to become a major superstar in the mid-nineties with his casting as Robin in a Batman movie.  Only 25, and with several agents ready to offer him a successful movie career, the actor decided that getting married and having a family were more important to him.  “I was being offered these huge films that would have taken my career to a different level, and I decided to put on the brakes. I knew if I continued on that track, I probably wouldn’t have gotten married.”

Now the father of five happy children, the NCIS: Los Angeles star has a daunting workday ahead of him, with his youngest baby waking him up around 6:30 am. And despite his grueling schedule, O’Donnell has been crowned Redbook’s Hot Husband of 2010.   Speaking of his marriage and it’s relationship to fame and Hollywood, O’Donnell seems to firmly believe that getting married, exchanging wedding rings and living a stable family life.  “I knew when I got into this business I couldn’t have it both ways:  I could live a playboy lifestyle, which is not a bad thing to do, or have a traditional family life, which is how I grew up.  That was more important to me…when I’m sitting in the backyard at the end of the day with a glass of wine, watching the kids having fun and clowning around, for me, that’s what it’s all about.”

Matt Damon and Wife Prepping for New Baby

Matt Damon and his wife were at the Save the Children’s Celebration of Hope Benefit this weekend in Greenwich, Connecticut, and they both definitely had children on their mind. The happily married couple already have two children together–Gia, 21 months old, and Isabella, 3. Damon’s wife, Luciana, also has an eleven year-old daughter from a previous marriage. Now the pair have another one on the way soon. “We’re bracing ourselves for our next little tornado.” Damon said at the fundraiser, then adding, “We’re excited, but it is a lot of work.”

Both Luciana and Damon married in a surprise wedding. They met while Damon was filming Stuck on You in Miami and she was working as a bartender. The pair married informally at New York City Hall in 2005. Damon definitely sifted through several engagement rings to find the right one. He eventually settled on a classic and elegant platinum ring from jeweler Steve Goldfarb. The two subsequently began to build a family, with Damon initially saying, “I’d love to be a dad. I hope I’d be great at it. That’s every man’s fear, yet his most important job.”

Pery and Russell Welcome a Cat Before Marriage

The hot couple, Katy Perry and Russell Brand, welcomed a cat into their home this weekend. And this wasn’t just any ordinary cat–the pair were calling the cat “Krusty” and accepting it as a “third child”. Perry told Twitter followers she was a cat-lover and happily accepted the feline gift. Both Perry and Brand each have a cat of their own. Hers is named Kitty Purry and his is named Morrisey. The two cats do not get along, so here’s hoping that Krusty can be their peacemaker!
Russell Brand and Katy perryMeanwhile Perry and Brand are set to exchange wedding rings and get married anytime now, in what Perry hopes will be a “small wedding”. Perry says, “I always have a ton of people around me and I think the people that are going to share this moment with us are the people we want to integrate into each other’s lives.” Is that so? Two big stars and a small wedding? Perry also admits that the pair are planning “a big, fat reception for the people who can’t make it.”

The pair got engaged in India, where Brand proposed to her inside a private tent atop an elephant.  The pair have been inseparable ever since.

Wedding Rings of Hollywood’s Golden Gals

With all the excitement over Betty White’s magnificent hosting of SNL, a number of grassroots campaigns have gone underway to thrust other older “golden years” comediennes into the SNL spotlight. As you know, White snagged her SNL hosting gig via a grassroots Facebook campaign that started after her appearance in a successful Snickers ad during the Superbowl. Other contestants with online buzz for the SNL hosting gig include the legendary Carol Burnett, Joan Rivers, Dolly Parton, and Cloris Leachman. So how do these comedy legends compare with today’s celebutantes and young comedians in the romance department? Check out the current and previous marriages of these TV legends.

betty white Betty White. Betty was married to Allen Ludden until he died of cancer in 1981, just a few years before her success with Golden Girls. After two failed marriages, Betty said “no” to Ludden several times before accepting his engagement ring. White finally agreed to marry him when he sent her a cute stuffed bunny. White says, “I wear his ring for good luck whenever I’m doing a big event.”
carol burnett Carol Burnett. Burnett had a seven year marriage that ended in divorce in 1962. She subsequently married TV producer Joe Hamilton in 1963 and the couple had three daughters. Burnett’s third marriage was to Brian Miller, drummer for the Hollywood Orchestra, and 23 years her younger.
joan rivers Joan Rivers. This comedy legend had a shortlived marriage in the 1950s before having her second marriage with Edgar Rosenberg in 1965. Rosenberg gave Rivers a generous diamond engagement ring, and Rivers has since joked in her comedy act that women getting married for the second time should always demand a bigger diamond.
chloris leachman Cloris Leachman. Award winner and Dancing With the Stars star Leachman married George Englund in New York City in 1953, with the pair getting a divorce in 1979. Even though the pair divorced, they remained committed to each other, having had five kids together. George ultimately said, “To me, we had five kids. That’s a huge piece of the continent of your life. The divorce was the end of the social aspect of it, but not the feeling and regard and care I have for her.”
Dolly Parton Dolly Parton. Each year, Parton and her husband Carl Dean celebrated their anniversary by returning to the Georgia chapel where they first exchanged vows in 1966. Now married over forty years, the pair cherish the visit. “We visit a park and get our picture taken on the steps outside the little Baptist church where we said our “I Do’s”.”

Seth Green Feeling Lucky As a Newlywed

Actor and producer Seth Green couldn’t be happier with his new wife.  The “Party Monster” and “Austin Powers” actor married girlfriend Clare Grant on Saturday, May 1 at a private vineyard in Northern California, just outside of San Francisco.

Grant, the new Mrs. Green, wore a tiered Oscar de la Renta gown.  And the always stylish Seth wore a custom-made suit from Dennis Kim.  And who designed the wedding rings?  Seth Green himself–along with the collaboration of Barry Jay Jewelers.  Well-known Los Angeles jeweler Tarina Tarantino also gave the wedding some added glamour with Clare’s headpiece and Seth’s diamond cufflinks.

Clare’s friend and producer from $5 Cover,  Craig Brewer, helped to preside over the wedding.   Though the couple will surely enjoy the beginning of their first marriage (and hopefully, only marriage), the pair definitely plan to continue to be busy with their careers, with more roles for Clare and her new husband continuing his busy schedule with voice work on the hit series “Family Guy” and “Robot Chicken”.

“We can’t believe we found each other.”  The couple said in a statement they released.  “We’ve never been happier!”
