Bill Clinton Helping Out With Chelsea’s Wedding

Just a few months ago, Bill Clinton was clearly not involved in daughter Chelsea’s wedding…with the exception of his pocketbook. Chelsea was deciding on a dress and the details with her mother, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. But now the former first daughter is accepting some of her father’s input–and the former President is genuinely glad to be part of the decision-making process.

“I participate. Chelsea has been good enough to include me in the decisions they’re making in how to do it, so I love that.” Chelsea is set to wed investment banker, Marc Mezvinsky, this summer. “I like and I admire my prospective son-in-law. I feel grateful that they have been such close friends for half of Chelsea’s life. I look forward to what they will do together, and I’m happy about that.”

The younger Clinton caused quite a stir when she wore her engagement ring featuring several diamonds to the Women in the World: Stories & Solutions Conference last month. When someone asked her mother-in-law, Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, where the wedding was taking place, she replied “I can’t say.” But it is widely believed that it will be at one of the Clintons favorite spots: Martha’s Vineyard.

Clinton was interviewed by Bush daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, on this week’s Today Show. “I just hope I can keep it together [until] I walk her down the aisle and do the handoff.” Jenna Bush also asked him how he’ll feel when the day arrives. “Proud, grateful, wistful. I’ll be thinking about the day she was born. I’ll be thinking about the first day of school.”

Bill Clinton Looking Forward to Chelsea Wedding

Bill Clinton revealed this week how he’s looking forward to his daughter’s wedding—but don’t expect to have him have much to do with the planning of it.  “I’m just supposed to walk her down the aisle and pay the bills.”  Clinton revealed to Ryan Seacrest on his morning radio show this week.

Of course, the details of Chelsea Clinton’s wedding have remained top secret.  We have yet to see any engagement rings or hear any details about wedding designers or the location.  It is presumed to be happening this summer.

The former president confided that the details of the wedding are being decided by “Chelsea and her mother”, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.  “They’re having a good time doing it.”  Clinton confided, also adding how happy he was to see his daughter getting married.  “I must say I am very happy.  My daughter is happy.   I like and admire my future son-in-law, so I couldn’t be happier about it.”

Chelsea Clinton and fiance Marc Mezvinsky, an investment banker for Goldman Sach’s, got engaged last November, telling all their friends and relatives via an enthusiastic Thanksgiving day email.  Clinton himself said he was likely to shed some tears at the wedding.  “I always though being her father was my most important job, so it’s a big day for me. [It’s] the biggest day in her life, probably, and I’m happy.”

Chelsea Clinton Looking For Wedding Dress

Chelsea Clinton is looking for the perfect wedding dress in preparation for her summer nuptials with Goldman Sachs investment banker Marc Mezvinsky.  Their planned marriage in the summer of 2010 has been sparking sepculation for over a year now, as some expected the couple to marry at a clandestine location in Clinton hotspot Martha’s Vineyard during the congressional recess in August of last year.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, is still figuring out what to wear, as well.  “I don’t have a dress yet, no, and Chelsea doesn’t either.  But we’re working on it.”  Clinton told CNN’s “State of the Union” talk show.

Though the engagement is now public, the couple has not been spotted wearing or shopping for engagement rings.  Papers have noted that Clinton’s ring finger has been left conspicuously bare.  Of course, given the veil of privacy that has always surrounded Chelsea, it may just be that she is not wearing what could be a very eye-catching ring in public yet.

In November 2009, Chelsea Clinton had confirmed reports of the engagement by sending an email to close friends and relatives saying, “We wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving!  We also wanted to share that we are engaged!”

Mezvinsky, 31, and Clinton, 29, have known each other for years.  Both met when Clinton was still in the White House as First Daughter and Mezvinsky’s parents were working in Congress.
