Tacori 2010 Bridal Collection

This year’s Tacori 2010 Bridal Collection follows the Tacori tradition of featuring a single large diamond surrounded by smaller stones. The 2010 Bridal Collection was recently unveiled in mid-March and was much anticipated. The ring band are made of white gold or platinum and also studded with sparkling diamonds. Such a diamond-studded solitaire arrangement can actually make the stone look larger, as Tacori elaborates: “The Tacori settings in this collection take the most popular diamond shape–a round-brilliant diamond–and the most popular size–a 1-carat center–and then, the design maestros at California design studios, craft a ring to make the 1-carat diamond look like a 2-carat stone or bigger.”
Tacori 2010 Bridal Collection

Interested buyers don’t necessarily have to buy their center stones in classic round brilliant cuts, they can also consider oval, princess, and emerald center cut stones.

A Tacori representative also had this to say about the new collection: “Every woman always dreams about getting the biggest, most beautiful diamond when they are proposed to, and the new Tacori bridal collection of diamond engagement rings features just such rings to dazzle and wow her. We are so proud of this remarkable new collection, and we are thrilled to share it with our new customers.”

The diamond solitaire-style is, of course, one of the more sought-after ring styles, with the tiny diamonds surrounding the center stone ensuring a sparkle from every angle. A Tacori rep also added, “These engagement rings may be from our newest collection, but they have a unique and vintage feel that make these contemporary rings feel like heirloom designs.”

Ex-Fiancée Forced to Give Ring Back

It looks like a Long Island woman won’t be keeping her engagement ring, after all. Danielle Cavalieri, 26, refused to give back her engagement ring to high school sweetheart John Gunther, 27, after she accused him of cheating.  The ring was a beautiful 2.2 carat white gold ring, which Cavalieri held on to for nearly a year-and-a-half.

Danielle Cavalieri

The Long Island New York couple dated for nine years, and even went to prom together.  But the love soon petered out when Cavalieri accused Gunther of an affair and the couple split in October 2008.  Cavalieri allegedly was to give the ring back to Gunther as per a verbal arrangement with Cavalieri’s father, where Gunther would split the cost of the engagement party that the couple was supposed to have.  But Cavalieri refused to give her former fianceé her ring back, saying she was “still too heart broken”.

Apparently Cavalieri wasn’t so heartbroken–she arranged to be married just this Saturday at Our Lady of Victory Church in Floral Park–the very same church that she and Gunther were to be married at.

Cavalieri was ordered by a Long Island court to give back the ring this week, with a Judge writing that New York state law allows a person to get back property that was “given in contemplation of marriage” if the marriage doesn’t occur.  That includes engagement rings!  “Consequently, fault in the breakup of a relationship is irrelevant.” The judge said.

How to Buy an Engagement Ring

Those interested in buying an exclusive engagement ring, may want to first check out the book, 7 Ways to Buy an Engagement Ring She’ll Love.  This is the best way to start researching how you’re going to impress her with an engagement ring she’ll love.

Tacori engagement ring

First you’ll want to discuss the basic considerations you’ll have when purchasing a ring, such as the variety of ring styles, stone shapes and budget range. A diamond shape and cut are not the same thing.  A cut refers to the number of facets and how these facets are proportioned.  The shape is the way in which a stone is cut.  For example, Round Brilliant Cut, Emerald Cut, Pear cut.  You get the point.

Buyers should secondly take into consideration that they will be paying more for a higher clarity and color than simply the carat size alone.  A 2 ct round diamond that is Internally Flawless and a D color, is significantly more valuable than a 5 carat Vs2, J Color.  The higher in color and clarity the diamond is, the more valuable and expensive it will be.

You’ll want to go window-shopping for a ring.  You can do this alone or with her, though it might be good to nonchalantly ask her questions while window-shopping one day in order to get a sense of what she’s looking for!

If you choose to just simply pick out a particular stone, then you might want to consider having a jeweler place it on a very basic setting, propose and then pick out the actual setting together.  That way she can get the ring she wants and you can get the benefit of surprising her!

Engagement ring shoppers may also strive to find cost-effective ways to purchase a diamond ring. Keep in mind that you need not stick to that old saying that an engagement ring should be two month’s salary.  If you can’t afford that, consider going for a smaller diamond and accenting it with a wedding band.  You might also make use of a family heirloom and transform that into your engagement ring–something she is sure to appreciate because of it’s sentimental value.

Carrie Underwood Singing in Fiancee’s Hockey Jersey

When Carrie Underwood visits her fiancee’s hometown of Ottawa, she doesn’t just wear anything. The country superstar wanted to show some pride at her Ottawa concert on Wednesday, and so she decided to wear her fiancee’s Ottawa Senators hockey jersey. The fiancee, Mike Fisher, is a forward for the team.

Carrie Underwood

“Hello, Ottawa,” Underwood told the audience at Scotiabank Place as she came on stage for her Play On tour. “So I guess I can consider this my hometown.” The singer said.

Underwood became engaged to Fisher in December 2009 and has been spotted at several Ottawa Senators hockey games, flashing her new sparkling stone. The engagement ring was custom-made and features a flawless yellow diamond at its center. The ring was designed by jeweler Jonathan Arndt, who has said, “The ring is a symbol of love from Mike Fisher to Carrie Underwood.” Some experts estimate the ring to have a value of up to $1 million. Engagement rings like that are a symbol of love indeed!

You definitely can’t pass up some of the good old-fashioned love songs that are out there. The Righteous Brother’s “Unchained Melody”, for instance, is a classic that won’t be forgotten and which was also featured in the Hollywood hit, “Ghost” starring Demi Moore. Many songs from the fifties are also wonderful for romantic evenings–from icons like Elvis and Roy Orbison. There are great slower songs that are great for quiet evenings, romantic picnics and the parks, and even cuddling and watching a movie.

If you’re in the mood to rock out with your loved one, then look no further than some of the more upbeat rock tracks that will surely inspire you to at least have fun during your romantic time spent together. The pop songs are perfect for that mixtape and riding in the car, thinking about your loved one. There is nothing as bombastically fun and swoon-filled as The Knife’s “Heartbeats” or Bjork’s “It’s Oh So Quiet”. And Madonna’s “Crazy for You” is more than just background music, while the  Hip Hop love songs are not only great for chill nights cuddling on the couch, but they’re also Hip Hop classics. Try them out for a more relaxed vibe.

Classic country music has produced some of the saddest love songs in the world, but also the sweetest. The contemporary fare included is more upbeat and crowd-pleasing. Whatever you’re looking for, there’s nothing like a little country to let her know you care.

Finally, the romantic ballads are the songs to play when you’re alone at night and, for one reason or another, can’t be together. They are the perfect songs to play when you really want someone!

Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush Taking a Step Back

The NFL player and the reality star aren’t calling it quits, but they’re definitely taking a step back from their relationship, sources said this week.   The couple began dating in 2007, breaking up for a brief period in 2009.  Additionally, marriage speculation has followed the couple, with Kim Kardashian even admitting on a Sirius radio show in April 2009 that she had already been shopping for engagement rings in New Orleans. Kardashian was later spotted wearing a 7 carat diamond ring at a Saint’s game, but it turned out it was just an extravagant fashion choice.

Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush

After reconciling with Bush in late 2009, Kardashian explained the brief split.  “I think sometimes people need to take a break just to take time off to see how much they need each other and how much they really are compatible.  We just made the decision that we want to make it work, and the time off was really beneficial for both of us.”

Not long after Kardashian bought a house in Beverly Hills and the couple was rumored to be about to move in together.  Now the two seem more likely to take it slow. “She’s totally happy and fine with everything.  Kim and Reggie are best friends; they really are.  It’s just more that he can’t deal with her life and all the fame she’s gotten.  She and Reggie started dating before she even had her show.  They are working on seeing what they both want.”  We’ll see if Kardashian keeps wearing that engagement ring in the coming weeks!

4-carat diamond lost and retrieved at SNL

A Manhattan event planner, Bree Candee, noticed a four-carat diamond was missing from her wedding ring after attending a “Saturday Night Live” rehearsal last weekend, and dining at the celebrity-worthy eatery, Nobu 57.
diamond ring
Describing herself as “a mess”, Candee’s husband, Brian, offered to phone SNL director, Tom Popple. The couple had met Popple before the rehearsal and he was glad to calm Brian down over the phone, saying “I’m holding it in my hand as we speak.”

“It’s like winning the lottery. You can’t believe it.” Brian later said. With the ring now firmly attached in a new tight prong, wife Bree was shaking. “It’s one of my favorite things.” She said. “I wake up in cold sweats dreaming that I’m going to lose my ring–and the funny thing is, I did.”

Make sure to get your wedding and engagement rings cleaned and prongs checked every few years. ! It’s a very important part of good ring maintenance and will save you from losing the original stone!
