Professional Women’s Looks at Women in the World Summit

Women from all sorts of nationalities, backgrounds and career perspectives convened this weekend to honor the first Women in the World summit hosted by the Daily Beast. Bringing together such reputable women such as Diane von Furstenberg, Hillary Clinton and actress Meryl Streep, the summit aimed to be a celebration of women’s progress in the world as well as promoting womens rights issues from all around the world.
Women in the World Summit

Attendees wore understated clothing and jewelry pieces that were fashionable, elegant and professional. Are you attending a conference soon where you have to give off the same chic yet professional appeal? Looking for items that won’t be too gaudy? Check out the chic items from the Tacori 18k925 jewelry collection and Roberto Coin jewelry collection. You’ll be sure to find what you need to dress to impress–from gold woven earrings to diamond tennis bracelets.

The Women in the Summit featured many of such professional looks, from the business suit and diamond bracelet worn by Madeline Albright in her interview with Barbara Walters to the long decorative necklaces worn by Meryl Streep. Streep meanwhile performed in the debut of a play, “Seven”, written specifically for the summit, alongside actress Marcia Gay Harden. Secretary-of-State Hillary Clinton introduced the play, saying “It’s not only that women’s rights are human’s rights, but women’s progress is human progress.”

Power Pearls and Diamond Neckwear

Business women, CEO’s, attorneys, government employees and financial professionals should also take note of the classic trend that’s sweeping through today’s highest echelons of government: power pearls. Yes, you’ve seen them worn by the likes of Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, Michelle Obama, Cindy McCain and Nancy Pelosi. Republican or democrat, these pearls are non-partisan! First Lady Michelle Obama was sure to wear them at this year’s State of the Union, a perfect accompaniment to her Isaac Mizrahi dress in pretty plum.

So what is it about pearl necklaces that have such an appeal for these women of power? It’s most likely because of their simple elegance, a sense of timeless beauty and authority that they give off.

But maybe you’re just not into pearls? Well, look no further than the other timeless diamond necklaces you can buy, which give off the same powerful appeal, while remaining classic items. You may want to consider a diamond solitaire pendant with a round brilliant diamond. You can also consider the many other options of diamond pendant necklaces, though they have a different appeal than the pearl or diamond solitaire pendant options.

In any case, powerful women will always be wearing pearls and diamond solitaire pendants because of their classic appeal.

Bill Clinton Looking Forward to Chelsea Wedding

Bill Clinton revealed this week how he’s looking forward to his daughter’s wedding—but don’t expect to have him have much to do with the planning of it.  “I’m just supposed to walk her down the aisle and pay the bills.”  Clinton revealed to Ryan Seacrest on his morning radio show this week.

Bill and Chelsea Clinton

Of course, the details of Chelsea Clinton’s wedding have remained top secret.  We have yet to see any engagement rings or hear any details about wedding designers or the location.  It is presumed to be happening this summer.

The former president confided that the details of the wedding are being decided by “Chelsea and her mother”, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.  “They’re having a good time doing it.”  Clinton confided, also adding how happy he was to see his daughter getting married.  “I must say I am very happy.  My daughter is happy.   I like and admire my future son-in-law, so I couldn’t be happier about it.”

Chelsea Clinton and fiance Marc Mezvinsky, an investment banker for Goldman Sach’s, got engaged last November, telling all their friends and relatives via an enthusiastic Thanksgiving day email.  Clinton himself said he was likely to shed some tears at the wedding.  “I always though being her father was my most important job, so it’s a big day for me. [It’s] the biggest day in her life, probably, and I’m happy.”

Chelsea Clinton Looking For Wedding Dress

Chelsea Clinton is looking for the perfect wedding dress in preparation for her summer nuptials with Goldman Sachs investment banker Marc Mezvinsky.  Their planned marriage in the summer of 2010 has been sparking sepculation for over a year now, as some expected the couple to marry at a clandestine location in Clinton hotspot Martha’s Vineyard during the congressional recess in August of last year.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, is still figuring out what to wear, as well.  “I don’t have a dress yet, no, and Chelsea doesn’t either.  But we’re working on it.”  Clinton told CNN’s “State of the Union” talk show.

Though the engagement is now public, the couple has not been spotted wearing or shopping for engagement rings.  Papers have noted that Clinton’s ring finger has been left conspicuously bare.  Of course, given the veil of privacy that has always surrounded Chelsea, it may just be that she is not wearing what could be a very eye-catching ring in public yet.

In November 2009, Chelsea Clinton had confirmed reports of the engagement by sending an email to close friends and relatives saying, “We wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving!  We also wanted to share that we are engaged!”

Mezvinsky, 31, and Clinton, 29, have known each other for years.  Both met when Clinton was still in the White House as First Daughter and Mezvinsky’s parents were working in Congress.
