Kate Winslet Opens Up On Divorce

Kate Winslet is one of the most beautiful women in the world, coupled with her outstanding talent for acting and her constant elegant style, the beauty is always admired. Once married to Sam Mendes famed director, they called it quits a year ago and the star has been very quiet about the divorce.

Recently the actress who chopped off her hair and is now sporting a beautiful ice blond pixie, opened up to British Vogue about her divorce. Regal, she shares her one of her most personal and vulnerable moments:

‘On being alone:

“Experiencing those moments of being alone…is a very, very weird flooring and exposing position to be in when you’re just not used to it…But I’ve never been lonely. And with my kids Mia and Joe that remains the case.”

On refusing psychotherapy:

“One of the reasons I’ve never done intensive psychotherapy or any of that stuff is that if there’s anything in me that needs fixing, I want to know that I can rely on my own intuition to fix it.”

On exercising post-split:

“That’s the main reason I took it up…But I do feel…I don’t know… part of, I suppose, my way out of everything, has been really taking care of myself. I think that comes from an awareness that my children really need me, and they need me to be the healthiest version of myself that I can possibly be.”

On being happy:

“I actually keep saying it out loud. Last night I went out for a drink with two friends and, as we were walking, I said, ‘God, you know, I feel so good.’ Not in a, ‘Wow! I feel so good!’ way, but just in that quiet centered way. I’m almost surprised by it. I feel well, I feel healthy. I feel clear. I feel centered.” ‘

Glad to see that the beauty is staying healthy in both mind and spirit, now if only we can get Leo DiCaprio single…yes I am still rooting for these two to be together.

Kate Winslet Splits From Husband

“Titanic” star and Oscar winner Kate Winslet  split from her husband of seven years, “American Beauty” director, Sam Mendes.  The news was reported today by a British law firm, reporting that they had split earlier this year and it was amicable.  It was  not specified whether divorce proceedings had begun yet.

Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes

Winslet and Mendes married in 2003 and have two children together.  The two wed in an impromptu ceremony in the Caribbean.  Winslet revealed that the day was so unplanned that she didn’t have the time to buy her husband a wedding ring.  Mendes, however, was able to scour the wedding rings available and place a very large diamond ring on Winslet’s finger.  The actress also reportedly wears a ring given to her by “Titanic” and “Revolutionary Road” co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio.  It has a special engraving inside, but Winslet won’t reveal what it says.

According to the report issued by the British law firm, “The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement.  Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.”  Both Winslet and Mendes met in 2001 when Mendes approached Winslet to star in two London theatrical productions.

The New Metallic Trend

Metallic colors were all the rage at this year’s Oscars, perhaps taking note from the ready-to-wear collections which previously hit the Paris runways and New York Fashion Week.  From make-up to gowns to jewelry, get ready to see a wide spectrum of metallic hues like silver, white gold, and bronze.

Best Actress winner Sandra Bullock was certainly no exception to the metallic trend.  Wearing an elegant, form-fitting embroidered Marchesa gown, this year’s Best Actress shined almost as brightly as an Oscar statuette.  Meanwhile Cameron Diaz wore a strapless crystallized frock by White House favorite Oscar de la Renta, while last year’s Best Actress Kate Winslet opted for a chic strapless metallic gown by Yves Saint Laurent.

Of course the yellow gold that has been usually omnipresent at Oscars ceremonies was largely absent from this year’s Academy Awards.  Kate Winslet wore platinum and light yellow diamond pendants from Tiffany &  Co., while Best Actress nominee Helen Mirren wore an elegant 150-carat Chopard necklace, which was a stunner.  Penelope Cruz also wore Chopard diamond drop earrings, while Anna Kendrick accessorized with a delicate diamond cuff bracelet and matching clutch.

Getting the metallic fever yet?  Why not check out all the ample platinum, silver and white gold options you’ll have available at Since1910.com–from diamond stud earrings to stacked bangles to diamond solitaire pendants.

Oscar Night Jewelry

Stars opted for old-school Hollywood glamour on the red carpet at the Oscars on Sunday.  Many of the nominated actresses sashayed down the red carpet in platinum or silver gowns.

Kate Winslet Oscars 2010

It was perhaps Kate Winslet, last year’s Best Actress winner, who stole the night with her gown and jewels.  She wore a silver strapless column dress by Yves St Laurent and a pendant style necklace of emerald cut white and yellow diamonds by Tiffany with matching diamond earrings and cuff.  The entire jewelry ensemble is believed to be valued at $2.5 million dollars.

This year’s Best Actress winner, Sandra Bullock, wore a silver beaded gown by designer Marchesa and forties style makeup.  As the awards season favorite, Bullock certainly had her share of jewelry designers to choose from.  Bullock ultimately chose to wear minimal jewelry, but did receive a special good-luck charm from Leigh Anne Tuohy, the real-life woman that Bullock portrays in The Blind Side.  Tuohy asked eco-friendly jewelry company Alex and Ani to create a special set of their Signature Expandable Bangles to “say we love and you good luck” for the Oscar-winner’s big night.

Nominee and past winner Dame Helen Mirren chose a dress of silvery tones by Badgley Mischka, accessorized with diamond jewelry by the well-respected French designer, House of Chopard.
