Katy Perry and Russell Brand are not big on tradition.  The couple got engaged in India atop an elephant, and have caused quite few headlines with some of their projected wedding plans.  One of the more outlandish ideas was the couple’s plans for making their dogs the possible ring bearer.  But the most transgressive of all their ideas may be their no-gifts policy.  And yet, Brand explains, “Given that Katy and I both have good jobs, we don’t want any presents.  It would be a massive indulgence.”

Brand’s “Get Him to the Greek co-stars have a few recommendations for him, however.  Nicholas Stoller says that Perry and Brand might need “a waffle maker” and a “really fancy hair dryer”, while Brands other co-star, Kali Hawk, says they might need some “diamond, platinum, titanium-encrusted flat irons.”  Meanwhile, newlywed Elizabeth Moss adds that “you got to invest in the good sheets and towels…Those are things you don’t buy yourself.”  Essentials!

Perry and Brand originally met at the MTV VMA Awards, while Brand was hosting. Apparently Brand shamelessly flirted with Perry and the pair obviously really hit it off.  Since then, the pair have been inseparable, traveling everywhere from Thailand to London to India to Los Angeles.  No wedding date announced yet, but all can expect it to be a perfectly unconventional bash.

Comedian Russell Brand and pop star Katy Perry are almost certain to not have a typical wedding this year. The pair engaged on New Year’s Eve of last year atop an elephant in a private tent in India. It was then that Brand presented Perry with an engagement ring covered in diamonds. But, as elaborate as Brand’s India plans were, Perry is not letting him touch the wedding planning side of things…and Brand seems fine with that.

“If you’re getting married, the girl does it.” When asked if he was at least helping a little, Brand sarcastically scoffed, “No way, man. I’m just looking out the window.”

But it seems that behind-the-scenes Brand may be somewhat of a “bridezilla”, as Perry calls him. “He’s a total bridezilla. He’s like a freak. He’s always buying bride magazines. Everytime we go out for breakfast, he’s like, ‘Can we just stop and get a bride magazine?’” And meanwhile, Perry admits that she can’t quite focus on planning her wedding until she finishes planning her next album. “I have to plan my record first and then I’m going to get to my wedding. But I’m really excited about that, too.”

And even though he’s left out of the wedding plan, Brand still isn’t ruling out Vegas for their wedding location. Brand even joked about a naturist wedding recently. “We are going to do the wedding naked! All the families will be naked!” Brand seems quite the jokester regarding his wedding to Perry. He says he hopes for a possible “Vegas wedding, married by Elvis Presley.” Something tells us Perry might rule that out.
